Center for Environmental Research and Conservation

Degree Programs

The new department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology (E3B) at Columbia University was established in 2001. E3B runs two undergraduate majors/concentrations, an MA program in conservation biology and a PhD program in ecology and evolutionary biology. The educational programs in the department were previously administered by the Center for Environmental Research and Conservation (CERC), with which the department continues to maintain strong ties. Now, however, the Columbia University degree programs taught by CERC's adjunct and affiliate faculty from Columbia, the American Museum of Natural History, the New York Botanical Garden, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and Wildlife Trust are administered by E3B.

The administrative offices of E3B and CERC are located on the 10th floor of Schermerhorn Extension. Faculty offices, student spaces, laboratories, and classrooms can be found on the 8th, 10th 11th, and 12th floors.
